Compare the Komodo dragon and the chameleon. They are both lizards but one hunts large prey by crawling along the surface of the ground while the other sits in a bush and catches bugs by using his long tongue. Which one would you prefer as your pet lizard? I know I’d go for the smaller of the two pet lizards.

Some pet lizards require have very specific needs and need more experienced handlers, others will make the ideal pet lizard for beginners who have no or very little experience with these reptiles. You have to be aware that not all lizards make good pets, especially for an amateur. The Bearded Dragon is one of the most popular as far as pet lizards are concerned. These reptiles have very basic needs and usually live a long and happy life in captivity. Because of their size, you can easily keep them in a glass cage where they can bask in sunlight.

The Uromastyx makes an interesting pet lizard and comes in a variety of different colors. Very much like the bearded dragon, it has lots of personality with specific basking requirements of 120 degrees. The Blue Tongued Skink has a blue colored tongue in its pink mouth. These lizards are tamed easily, as they are naturally docile. These lizards are omnivores, doing very well on a diet of insects and vegetables or plants and the occasional rodent. They will even eat some turkey. Once you have decided on a lizard pet, you should do as much research as you can. You will then ensure that you are a great friend for your new pet.

The most well known and feared of all spiders are the black widow spiders. How dangerous a spider is to humans, is measured by the venom it injects into you. Spiders rarely bite humans, in most cases, not even breaking the skin.
The venom of the most poisonous spider contains a neurotoxin, which is able to cause tremendous pain, breathing problems and lead to death. " width="320" height="218" title="Rescue Cats Could Rescue You! " />Rescue Cats are an option you may want to consider, should you be interested in a new pet or giving a cat a new home. There are many cats abandoned by their owners, especially when people locate to another area. These cats are left to roam the streets, scavenging for food. They have no idea how to look out for themselves and are vulnerable to accidents, illness, and disease. They should be left with someone who will take good care of them and house them in cat enclosures, where they will be safe and protected. Most cats are very affectionate and need to be taken care of and loved.

Some cats are abandoned because of behavior problems. Whatever problems you are experiencing with your cat, there are always solutions. Asking for advice from experts will assist you in solving these problems. Although dealing with behavior problems can be quite draining, assisting with rescue cats is always a rewarding experience. Rescue Cats consist of organizations, which rescue cats that have been abandoned and find them new and loving homes. They keep rescued cats housed in cat enclosures where visitors can view and bond with them in the hope of providing them with a new home and a brighter future.

Rescue cats are generally well cared for and have usually been neutered and thoroughly checked by a veterinary surgeon. They should be well watered and fed in an official rescue home, where they are kept in cat enclosures. Gaining the trust of a stray and abandoned cat can mean a huge step forward in combating any occurrences of behavioral problems. Rescue cats are available for adoption and these agencies always need more volunteers to assist.

There are so many products on the market from shampoos, to conditioners, to grooming cosmetics, when looking to purchase such items for our four-legged canine companions; it can make the simple act of buying dog shampoo a real chore. Which is best?

Price should be considered when looking to purchase dog products; some items are simply not worth the investment, and there are cost-efficient equivalents that will accomplish the same task. Look at the ingredients before deciding. Ask sales help what the main differences are between the higher-cost items and a less pricey alternative. Do you want or need de-tangler agents in your dog shampoo? Perhaps an unscented variation is best for your particular pet. Determine your priorities and try and not get overwhelmed with the bounty you will find at the pet store or mass retailer.

An interesting and innovative option has surfaced via online marketers; a “bar” dog shampoo eliminates waste and spillage at a low cost. Some online pharmacies have started offering this, and particularly if you have a small pet, this is a viable option. The key is to have a spot- a soapdish mounted near the tub, for instance- to keep the bar of shampoo-soap so that it doesn’t fall prey to “melting” if it gets pushed into the tub inadvertantly. Try this new product out as you do your own research regarding the best, and most cost-appealing, dog shampoo for your pet.

You just brought that new kitten home from your friend’s litter. Amongst other important priorities, you are pondering over your mental list of names for cats. If you are single, (poor thing!) then depending on your relative personality, the decision is either greatly simplified due to a couple of things. Not having to worry about the opinion of other members in the family disagreeing about the name that you choose or it is complicated by the fact that no one is there to help decide on which name best fits your new four-legged companion.

This can be a thorny cat problem. You don’t want to cause your new pet to be confused by calling it one thing and then changing your mind later and referring to it as something else. You want to have that perfect moniker right from the start and not give the poor critter a complex by changing its identity too often with a new name each month.

Either there are not enough interesting names for cats to consider or there are just too many. This illustrates the potential for indecisiveness caused by the contradiction of the two opposite states occurring simultaneously. Again, depending on one’s relative constitution, names for cats can be either too easy or too difficult. Jack or Jim, Jill or Jane, too mundane or too odd; this can be the most fun cat problem of them all.

The ultimate result of your decision as to names for cats may prove of the utmost moment for your kitty. Though there are of course those that maintain that the name is no cat problem at all but is simply the conundrum of the silly pet owner making a mountain out of a molehill.

Some insist that cats don’t recognize or identify with their names at all. Most or all of those that fall into this category are probably dog owners.

With the Great Recession and the ensuing economic black holes left in its wake continuing to take its ghastly toll on many pet owners, their pet’s kitty toys may need to be restocked with extra love and fun. Many pet owners might have to work extra shifts to take up the financial slack of an economy gone south for the winter but hopefully not for the spring as well.

The right kitty toys tell your cat in so many purrs that you care about him or her. You may have already securely ensconced your cat in a kitty condo with all of the trimmings. Nevertheless, lounging in the lap of such luxury, there is nothing that entertains as a few amusing kitty toys. To help your cat, especially if it is an indoor cat, get through those lonely hours cooped up in the apartment.

The kitty toys don’t have to be expensive top of the line products. Your pet may be just as happy playing with an old sock as with a thirty-dollar pet shop trinket. That doesn’t mean that the kitty condo was not a good investment. It simply means that a cat’s fun can come from the darnedest of places.

Perhaps a ball of dryer lint may prove a much better toy than the dedicated purchase made at the pet emporium. It might also be safer for its health. Inexpensive kitty toys are not all the same. Be on the watch for faulty workmanship or potentially hazardous chemicals used in the manufacturing process. Check the labels for the materials listed that the product is constructed from.

It is your responsibility to teach your pet dwarf rabbit to eat foods that will help them grow into strong healthy animals. Dwarf rabbits will gradually get used to whatever food you introduce to them. It is always best to give them one new food at a time. Your rabbit must have access to lots of fresh water at all times, preferably filtered.

Pet stores sell the correctly full and well-balanced food for dwarf rabbit, by age. Feed a young dwarf rabbit about two to three tablespoons a day or even at night. Rabbits can also be fed oats, pulses that have been boiled or soaked, barley and cereals. Don’t give them sweet mixtures of dried fruits, or spicy or overly salty foods. Obesity will develop if rabbits are overfed a diet of fodder. For this reason, concentrated food pellets should be limited in adult animals.

Dwarf rabbit has a single- chamber stomach and quick digestion, which forces them to constantly eat the nourishment they require, about 30 times per day. Babies eat even more. Animal feed should be provided according to the need of the dwarf rabbit. A diet of roughage such as hay, twigs, and feed bran, green and juicy fresh herbs, leaves, vegetables, silage, and fruits is perfect for your pet rabbit. Vitamin and mineral supplements should also be included in the rabbit diet. Hay is most important for rabbits and the main part of their diet. Rabbits enjoy eating apples with the seeds removed and cut in quarters. Rabbits love fresh grass, all types of grasses. These are essential to their diet and lifestyle.

Nearly every spider has venom but very few can actually cause harm to humans. Venom is used to paralyze prey during the hunt or as a self-defense mechanism against predators. Some of the tiniest most poisonous spiders are deadly and quite capable of killing humans. For this reason it seems quite reasonable when some people suffer from arachnophobia. Some people manifest panic attacks if they come across a poisonous spider. It is reported that only about 2% of spiders are poisonous while the other 98% may be venomous but harmless.

A spider bite from a poisonous spider can cause swelling, itching, nausea, nervous system failure, and even death. Some poisonous spiders possess necrotic venom, which causes damage to the tissues around the bite area. Other spiders have neurotoxic venom, which affects the nervous system of the victim. The Brazilian Wandering Spider holds the Guinness Book of records as the most venomous spider in the world and is responsible for many human fatalities.

The Australian Sydney Funnel-web spider, resembles a tarantula, has fangs that are able to penetrate your fingernails, and is extremely aggressive. This poisonous spider will bite repeatedly, and is able to cause death within 15 minutes of its bite. It is often considered the most deadly spider in the world. The Black Widow practices cannibalism after mating and is called “widow” for this reason. Amongst poisonous spiders, her bite is highly venomous, causing numerous side effects and can eventually result in a fatality. While the Brown Recluse or Violin Spider bite is rare, it can result in death. The Australian Redback Spider, also of the widow species, follows the same practices of cannibalism after mating and is considered extremely dangerous to humans.

More and more people worldwide are acquiring pet pigs as their popularity increases. Apparently, they make excellent companions and are the ideal ‘pets’ to watch TV with, as they just love it. It seems that they also like to ‘talk’ and that purchasing a pair is the best route. In this way, your pet pig will never be lonely when you are not available to keep it company. Pigs need daily exercise in order to regulate their weight, or they may become lazy.

What you don’t know about pigs is that they tend to become very spoilt when not properly, but gently disciplined. Pigs are highly intelligent and try to dominate and manipulate their owners into giving in to them. Pet pigs love to get their own way. They are said to be much more intelligent than dogs and cats, and come fourth place, just after monkeys and dolphins. Pigs are quite easily able to learn tricks and love to do so.

Pig breeding has become one of the most popular jobs in Europe, as it seems that everyone wants to learn more about pigs and many want a pet pig of their own. Most pigs are about teacup size at birth, but quickly grow in size and stature, which is about ten times the size. Some even become larger, without regular routine exercise. It is not going to be a pet you can carry around for very long, especially when some pigs can grow to about 150 pounds
